I was bought a skydive voucher for my birthday
Assistant Branch Manager Jen Newton of Thomas Morris Biggleswade is no stranger to fundraising for charity. Jen will be taking on a skydive in aid of MacMillan Cancer on Sunday 23rd July.
Jen comments “I was bought a skydive voucher for my 40th birthday from my lovely man as I’ve always wanted to do one. So I thought what better way to do it than to raise money at the same time. I will be doing this at Peterborough Airfield on Sunday 23rd July
In 2020 my mum was diagnosed with lung cancer which had quickly spread to her brain. In October 2020 the doctors confirmed our worst fear, the cancer was untreatable and terminal and gave her a couple of months to live. Being the strong mum we always knew she didn’t let this phase her and powered through and enjoyed her life. In April 2021 she had a major fall which ended up in her being bed bound, she spent 2 weeks in hospital after which they discharged her home. During those 2 weeks my sister and I frantically adapted her flat with new bed, moved her TV into her room and put up family pictures all over so she had good memories to look at. We also put carers into place ready for her return home. Sadly my mum lost her battle to cancer in June 2021 surrounded by her loving family.
Macmillan were brilliant throughout and I thought what better way to raise money than to do a skydive which has always been on my bucket list”.
