Director Jo Bourne of IMPACT CMTD Ltd is stepping up for Diabetes UK this summer to support the 5 million people in the UK who live with diabetes.
Jo is currently taking part in a 92 day 1,000,000 step challenge for Diabetes UK. This will be the sixth year that Jo has taken part in the challenge for a charity that is very close to her heart.
Jo comments “I was diagnosed with Type one diabetes almost 30 years ago, a condition for which there is currently no cure. Living with diabetes is like riding a rollercoaster, with highs, lows and no two days ever being the same ! This will be the 6th year that I have signed up for this challenge, which is a big personal commitment meaning that I must walk approx. 11,000 steps every day (approx. 5 miles)
I want to raise as much awareness as I can about this disease and what it is like to live with, so more people understand and recognise how people are impacted and I want to help raise much needed funds for continued research so that one day we might find a cure. I will be taking my stepping to different parts of the country over the summer and will be bringing my grandchildren along to support me whenever I can !”
Diabetes UK are the UK’s leading charitable funder of diabetes research. They improve lives through pioneering research into all forms of diabetes and diabetes-related complications. The work they support helps them understand the causes of diabetes, bring about life-changing breakthroughs in care, treatment and prevention and bring them closer to a cure. In 2021 they invested over £6.4 million in diabetes research to kick start 31 new studies.
Agents Giving and The Guild of Property Professionals are delighted to support Jo with a grant to a great charity challenge.
