Supporting Fakenham Rotary Club
Nick Bird of Bailey Bird & Warren is no stranger to fundraising for his local community, Nick comments “I have lived and worked in Fakenham all my life, and set up Bailey Bird & Warren some 9 years ago, with my friend and colleague Andrew Warren. As a Company we have always wanted to be at the heart of the local community. We want the people of Fakenham to support our business, so we try to support as many events in the Town as possible as ‘pay back’ – I, (for instance), am the Town’s Father Christmas, and can be found sitting in a Grotto throughout December!
We have had a long association with the Fakenham Rotary Club, and have helped them with publicity, printing flyers and posters, and being their booking office for their events. Recently they have organised a talk about Ernest Shackleton & Antarctic Explorers, they have held a Dinner & Cabaret, and soon after a Cocktail Evening, they are running a Golf Day. As you can tell, a very active Club which raises a good amount of money for charities and good causes, around the Fakenham area, Nationally and Internationally – and financially assisting in disaster relief wherever it is needed”.
Helping with future good causes
“The aim of the Cocktail Evening being held on Saturday 31st August is two-fold. To replenish the Rotary’s Bank account, as the Club has, earlier this year, given a large amount of money to the Fakenham Doctor’s Surgery by buying a new ECG machine, (something which the Surgery was struggling to raise money for themselves), and by donating a hospital-style bed to a local family as the mother has terminal cancer. Secondly, the Club only has 14 active members, who are all quite ‘senior’! By holding an event which may encourage younger people to attend, it is hoped a new generation may show an interest in Rotary and help with future good causes”.
