Ollie and Ben Quiney of Focal Agent are putting their trainers back on for the London Marathon on Sunday 27th April 2025. Ollie comments “Back in October 2014, we sadly lost our much loved new born daughter Minnie at 1 day old due to an undetected lung infection which was not identified until immediately after she was born at 37 weeks. Minnie was absolutely beautiful, perfect in every way.
This was an extremely traumatic and upsetting experience, one which we, and our families will never really get over or truly understand. Just moments after losing Minnie, SANDS kindly provided a memory box. We put her name tags, hand and footprints and the usual keep sakes associated with a new baby into this box. Unfortunately, this was all we walked away from the hospital with that day.
This year Minnie would have been 10 years old so myself and my brother Ben thought it would be a good chance to remember this milestone and raise more much needed money for this amazing charity by running the Marathon together in April. We ran it together back in 2017 for Minnie Q and thought the time was right to do it again for her”.
“SANDS have supported us in so many ways and we really want to support this wonderful charity so that SANDS can continue helping other families who unfortunately may have the same or similar harrowing experience which affects a lot more people than we realise. We would like to raise as much money as we can, we think it’s the best way to say thank you.
It’s going to be an emotional and brilliant day in so many ways and we can’ t think of a better way to do something really positive for Minnie Q. We aim to cross the line together but in all honesty, we can’t wait for the sprint finish to see who wins and who actually, is in fact, the best brother!
Thanks for reading and thanks to all of you who donate to support this amazing charity”.
Sands, the stillbirth and neonatal death charity, operates across the UK: supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby; working in partnership with health professionals to ensure that bereaved parents and families receive the best possible care; and promoting improvements in practice and funding research that could help to reduce the loss of babies’ lives.
They depend on the amazing energies of our supporters to raise the vital funds that we need to deliver the wide range of services that we offer. #TeamSands
