Jacobs Steel is once again showing its commitment to the local community by taking on the “Marathon in a Month” challenge in support of Guild Care. Over the course of January, the team will aim to collectively cover 1,600 miles, with each member contributing through running, walking, or jogging at their own pace. Alongside this impressive distance target, Jacobs Steel is aiming to raise £1,600 to support Guild Care’s vital work with vulnerable people across the region. This challenge is another example of the company’s long-standing partnership with Guild Care and highlights how local businesses can make a tangible difference in their communities.
The challenge has also sparked some friendly rivalry between Jacobs Steel’s office locations, each competing to log the highest number of miles. This camaraderie is complemented by a post-Christmas health kick, with staff embracing the opportunity to build healthier habits while contributing to a meaningful cause. From early morning jogs to lunchtime walks, employees are combining fitness, teamwork, and fundraising in a way that benefits both the individual and the wider community.
Commenting on the challenge, Matt Jacobs said, “January can be a difficult month for people to get motivated physically due to the short days and typically poor weather! Therefore, we felt this was a great incentive to inspire our team to embrace the outdoors and increase their steps whilst raising funds for wonderful local charity Guild Care.”
Daryl Wollers, Corporate Development Officer at Guild Care, praised the team’s ongoing support, saying, “Jacobs Steel have been fantastic long-term partners of Guild Care, and this challenge is a brilliant example of their continued commitment. The enthusiasm and dedication shown by the team helps raise vital funds and awareness, enabling us to continue supporting vulnerable people across the local community.”
