The experience tested me physically and mentally

Chris Ellis Business Owner of Harrisons Homes Sittingbourne, is no stranger to fundraising for many charities.  Once again Chris put on his trainers for another marathon.  Chris tells “At the weekend, I completed one of the toughest challenges I’ve ever taken on, an ultra-running event that saw me cover 104km over 17 continuous hours, starting at midday and finishing at 5:21am the following morning.

What makes this achievement even more meaningful is that, just a week and a half before the event, I genuinely wasn’t sure whether my fitness would hold up. The furthest distance I had ever completed was 50km back in December, and my goal for this event was simply to reach 100km.

Despite the doubts, I kept putting one foot in front of the other and eventually surpassed my target, finishing on 104km. The experience tested me physically and mentally in ways I hadn’t experienced before, but it also reminded me of the power of resilience, determination and setting ambitious goals.

Sport in Mind, a charity that supports positive mental health

“Alongside the challenge, I was raising money for Sport in Mind, a charity that supports positive mental health through sport and physical activity. Interestingly, I had originally applied to support the charity around six years ago when it was particularly relevant to me, and had almost forgotten about it until recently. Wanting to give something back, I set a fundraising target of £300.

The support I received was incredible. Thanks to the generosity of friends, family, colleagues and supporters, I didn’t just reach the target, together we raised £1,035.

Agents Giving and the Guild of Property Professionals are honoured to support Chris with a grant in aid of Sport in Mind
