Sean Lawless at Bill Free Homes is organizing the second annual charity social walk set to take place on the 6th April 2019, raising money for the Christie. The event which was first held in the Bolton area in 2018 raising over £1000 for The Christie is to be this year, held in Wigan including walking around the DW Stadium, home to the rugby team Andy supported, the Wigan Warriors.
The six mile walk also includes a stop at five local pubs along the way including Wigan Central, Tap n Barrell and will finish in the picturesque Haigh Hall.
The walk has been organised in memory of former Blackrod CC player and chairman, Andy Hartley, who last year passed away after a battle with bowel cancer. The former RAF Flight Sergeant was a regular spectator at the DW Stadium and the walk this commemorates his love for rugby, with last years walk focusing on cricket.
Along the way, the walkers will be raising money for The Christie, a place in which Andy spent many days at in his fight against cancer.
