I had the incredible honour of representing the Wales Women’s Over 40s Hockey team
Amy Hansen Marketing Manager at AgentOS has been selected yet again for the Women’s Welsh over 40’s Team. Amy tells “I’m really pleased to have been selected to play for Wales Women Over 40s Hockey Team once again.
This time we are playing in Valencia in the Masters Hockey European Championships in June and in the 4 Nations Tournament in Glasgow in August. I had the incredible honour of representing the Wales Women’s Over 40s Hockey team as goalkeeper at the Masters Hockey European Championships in Valencia.
The tournament brought together top talent from across Europe, and it was a true privilege to wear the Welsh shirt among such passionate and experienced teammates. From the first whistle, our squad showed grit, unity, and determination—qualities that would carry us to a historic achievement for Welsh Masters hockey.
We battled through the group stages and knockout rounds with discipline and heart, overcoming tough opponents and sweltering conditions that tested every ounce of our resilience.
The Valencian heat was relentless, with temperatures soaring above 38°C most days, adding an extra layer of intensity to each match. As a goalkeeper, staying mentally sharp in that heat was a real challenge, but the team’s drive and mutual support kept us pushing forward”.
The experience was unforgettable,
“Our journey led us all the way to the final, where we faced England in what proved to be a fiercely contested match.
Despite giving everything on the pitch and keeping the game close, we narrowly lost 1–0 in a tight battle that could have gone either way.
It was a hard-fought match and a testament to the level of competition in the tournament. Though we just missed out on gold, our silver medal marked the best result the Wales Women’s Over 40s have ever achieved in European Masters hockey—a proud and emotional milestone for everyone involved.
The experience was unforgettable, not just for the historic outcome, but for the camaraderie, the fierce Welsh spirit, and the shared belief that we made our mark on the European stage”.
