Chris Girardi-Moore at Arun Estates has known for a while that he wanted to set himself a big challenge to celebrate his birthday and when he did, he wanted to use the opportunity to ‘do his bit’ for a charity.
Chris comments “Charities must have suffered with the recent global pandemic and unfortunately Illness does not go on hold while the world comes to a standstill during various lockdowns. So hopefully this will be something positive following such difficult times and a much needed boost to help support them.
It’s no secret I love to cycle; and when it comes to cycling there’s one huge challenge I’ve always aspired to undertake… so I’m going to be cycling 1000 miles, from Land’s End – To John O’Groats!”🚲
This is an epic ride which tours the length of the UK over a 10 day period and cycling on average 100 miles a day, everyday until Chris will cross the finish line. Chris will be starting at Lands End on Wednesday 4th May 2022 and will finish Sunday 15th May 2022 at John O’Groats in Scotland.
There are an estimated 86,625* children in England with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. This number has trebled over the last 17 years and is rising. Thousands of families have to face the very real possibility that their child may die and struggle to cope on a day to day basis. The Rainbow Trust provides a lifeline to these families and children.
When a child has a serious illness, family life is turned upside down and time becomes more precious than ever. Rainbow Trust pairs each family with an expert Family Support Worker who enables them to make the most of their time together, giving them practical and emotional support, whenever they need it, for as long as is needed.
WHY? Chris has chosen this charity because during the past 11 years he has worked for Arun Estates and got to know a great man called Godfrey Haire. Godfrey has a personal connection with this amazing charity and for those of you who know him, will understand he always does everything in his power to help those around him. In June this year after waiting 11yrs, Godfrey will be giving his son a kidney, which is very much needed. He could not thank the Rainbow Trust children’s charity enough for all their support that they have given Godfrey over this time. His kindness is infectious, so this is Chris’s small way of paying back that kindness.
Chris is asking for any donation no matter how small, as every penny really counts in these difficult times. To anyone who would usually get Chris a gift for he’s birthday or a pint in the pub to celebrate he’s 40th, Chris ask’s that instead you share your kindness with The Rainbow Trust
Chris will also be organising fundraising events on the lead up to the big ride and doing everything he can to reach his target.
Chris applied for an Agents Giving and the Guild of Property Professionals grant fund, we all wish you luck on your great cycling journey.
