EHB is providing a pound for every child
This year EhB Residential, Leamington Spa, is supporting Milverton Primary School’s ‘Grow a Pound, 2022’ initiative to raise money for the much needed renovation of their school library. EhB is kindly providing £1 for every child in the school to use to become entrepreneurs during the month of June. Pupils then ‘grow their pound’ in any way that they choose. For example they may invest their £1 in materials for creating things to sell or they may use their £1 to buy tools such as a sponge to organise a street car wash.
Milverton Primary School has teamed up with EhB twice before for Grow a Pound and each year the pupils become even more ingenious and creative. Pupils organised bake sales, sold art work and even performed magic shows. Playground dance competitions, busking and sponsored runs have also successfully raised money and during the Milverton/EhB Grow a Pound 2018 pupils raised an astonishing £2500. This money went towards a fabulous playground climbing frame.
Lockdown has proved how communities can pull together
Head Master Matthew Fisher at Milverton Primary School comments “This scheme encourages pupils to think about money and how it can be turned into profit for the school but it also gives the pupils a chance to make a positive difference within their local community. Pupils have helped neighbours with gardening or offered vacuuming services for donations and it is these opportunities that encourage responsible citizenship. EhB representatives recognise the children’s efforts by presenting certificates at an awards ceremony at the end of June. Categories for winners include the most imaginative/creative idea, the most successful fundraiser and the most helpful community ambassador.
Lockdown has demonstrated how communities can pull together to support isolated and vulnerable people. Grow a Pound provides another opportunity for community engagement and we look forward to seeing how imaginative and entrepreneurial the Milverton pupils will be this year.
