Well, team RunFatBoyRun is born!!!
James, Adam and Daniel all long term school/football/dads are going to smash the Marathon and raise a load of money for charity!
The team started off as just James who thought he had run his last Marathon when he completed his third one in 2017. Having gone to watch the London Marathon in 2018, and realising how much he missed the buzz of the crowd and the thousands of amazing people involved, and after a drunken chat with a few mates, he managed to gain a place running for Children with Cancer Uk where 80% of this money will go to.
The last three weeks of training with the support of Dan and Adam they have now got the running bug and somehow have managed to all get a place which is brilliant news! They are now raising money together and have set themselves a nice target which they are confident they can beat.
Adam has now run 7 miles in one hit which is the furthest he has ever run in his life and at 47 years young he is the leader of the pack. Only a few weeks ago he was saying he would only run to support James and now he is doing the Marathon himself!!
Daniel is a solid runner who has done well in half marathons but he knows the full 26.2 miles is a big challenge and one he is looking forward to very much.
The team are also supporting Young Epilepsy receiving 10% which is another charity James has a connection with as his oldest son Liam was diagnosed with Absence Epilepsy in 2011. The remaining 10% is going to Mind which is a mental health charity. Mental health issues have been well documented in recent years and this will be another good cause we are supporting.
