Estate agency trainer and consultant Julian O’Dell’s fundraiser festival Catfest (named after his wife Cat) which has proved to be a huge success over the past few years is all set to happen again in July. Last year’s event raised over £45,000 for Action Against Cancer and the aim is to beat that total this time around.

Catfest’s generous supporters help ensure costs are covered so the O’Dells are extremely grateful to those within the property industry who have stepped up to the mark already and contributed – TM training & development, Rightmove, Elevation Estate Agents, JNP Estate Agents, Land & New Homes Network, Manning Stainton Estate Agents, Moneypenny, Nock Deighton with others coming on board soon.

Aside from the fundraising objective, Catfest aimed to celebrate the fact that against all odds, Cat has successfully managed the illness for almost 9 years. As Julian says “We want to continue to celebrate our miracle while helping raise money to ensure other people will be able to celebrate their own miracles in the future. The fact that it Catfest is the best party ever while raising such a great total makes all the hard work and sleepless nights worthwhile. There will a good many folk from the property sector coming along, but the more the merrier – get in touch with me if you’d like to join in the fun or support the event.”

The mini-festival in the O’Dells’ garden in Hulcote, Milton Keynes will include over ten hours of exceptional music, wonderful food and copious drink. It is a unique festival as everything is included in the ticket price!  Musical treats included the fantastic ABBA Arrival and rising star Alex Jayne, regular Catfest star turns Straw Bear, The Alice Band and Fred’s House as well as a few more great acts. Some fascinating auction lots were up for grabs and a selection of Julian’s artwork on sale.

Action Against Cancer is a small charity with low overheads who undertake brilliant research work in establishing new treatments for the disease.  Cat explained “As cancer patients, we all need hope. Research for cures or better treatment gives us that hope. We are therefore proud to support Action Against Cancer.”

New Ambassadors

Cat and Julian O’Dell have recently been appointed as Ambassadors of Action Against Cancer, in recognition of their incredible work fundraising for our cutting-edge research.

“We are so thrilled to be invited to be Ambassadors for Action Against Cancer” said Julian. “Since we first became aware of the charity in 2016, we have been keen to support it. We are forever grateful to Professor Stebbing for the care he gave Cat during her toughest times and that he helped her into remission against all odds. Raising funds for Action Against Cancer is our way of saying thank you.”

Cat added “We were immediately impressed with the way the charity was run and that as a small charity with low overheads, the money raised goes to the sharp end to fund groundbreaking research which ultimately will save lives.”

The O’Dells’ annual music festival Catfest held in the garden of their home near Milton Keynes raised over £45,000 in 2018, up from an already impressive £35,000 in 2017.
