Each year we dress up and brave the icy waters of Brighton
Managing Director Lucy Dawe and team at Lawton & Dawe Properties Ltd & Property Fusion are no strangers to the icy Brighton sea. For the last 8 years, Lawton & Dawe and Property Fusion have done their now legendary Christmas ‘Dip the Sea’ to raise funds for Off the Fence, a local well-established homeless charity.
Lucy comments “Each year we dress up and brave the icy waters of Brighton dressed in ridiculous outfits – we’ve been Elves, Dinosaurs, Pirates, cats and this year on 15th December we are Christmas trees! We will do it come rain or shine!
Each year friends, family and other local businesses support us and watch us run into the waves – the Mayor of Brighton & Hove has even come to watch a few times! We are lucky enough to have a hot meal and a shower after we dry off, but many aren’t so lucky.
The annual ‘Dip in the Sea’ is a huge success, we have raised in excess of £8000 to date – so we will keep fundraising and raising awareness for Off the Fence and all the amazing work they do in our city”.
Poverty has increased nationwide and Brighton is no exception
Off the Fence is a Brighton based charity who provide invaluable support to those who are homeless and vulnerable. Lawton & Dawe and Property Fusion have proudly been supporting them for 8 years now. They have also supported them by taking part in their annual sleep out, woolly hat day and other local initiatives.
Poverty has increased nationwide and Brighton is no exception. Off The Fence has grown alongside those who need us, helping them back to fulfilling and independent lives. They operate across three main areas: homelessness, women at risk and schools and youth.
They provide short and long-term solutions, through their two day centres, three outreach vans and 15 local schools. This work takes the support of just over 150 trained volunteers, staff and interns.
The mission of Off The Fence is to eradicate social and spiritual poverty in Brighton & Hove. They engage with those who need them and those who want to support them to to bring hope and transformation across the City.
