Joe’s London Marathon in the Garden 14 Apr 2020

Joe who has been at the Basildon branch for ten years runs everyday, he couldn’t envisage waking up on April 26th and not running the London Marathon.
Joe’s wife gave him the idea to raise funds for the NHS Charities and challenged him to run the marathon in his garden under lockdown.

Over the years Joe has raised £75,000 for different charities
They have worked it out that this will be between 1500 – 1600 laps of the garden.
Joe comment’s “it will be, without a doubt, the ‘longest’ marathon I’ve ever run with no opportunity to build any form of pace we envisage it taking between 4 and 5 hours.
If anyone can dig deep and donate to this incredibly worthy cause then please do so, it will be greatly appreciated as always and I think it’s fair to say it’s the greatest cause I’ve probably run for to date”.

Joe managed to run in just under five hours
Joe’s own London Marathon in the garden on Sunday 26th April 2020, astonishingly came past the post in just under five hours with the family supporting. Joe’s children watched their dad with their mum take on the gruelling 1600 laps. Joe has raised 20% over his target of £1,000 currently sitting at £1207.
