March for the Month of September 8 Oct 2021
March the Month has been about my Dad
Spencer Lawrence of Paramount Properties has walked 11,000 steps a day throughout September for Prostate Cancer UK. Spencer commented “For me March the Month has been about my Dad. He’s my rock, my mentor, and my best friend. He’s battled through cancer for a number of years with a strength and determination I can only aspire to. And unfortunately as cancer sometimes does, it’s gone on the move and reached his prostate. So we have another battle on our hands. One thing I can promise my Dad is we’ll be battling this cancer together. My commitment to March the Month has helped me to create time – time that I can dedicate to him. While I’m out there getting my steps in, I call him to check in, or reminisce about our favourite memories. Like our first time watching James Bond in the cinema, an experience I’ve recently shared with my own sons.
Our best chance of getting through this is together
It’s important to me that he knows I’m always supporting him, even when we’re apart. Before Dad’s diagnosis I must have read hundreds of posts and articles over the years about cancer. But now things are different. These stories have taken on new meaning; as shared experiences our family can take hope and inspiration from. Life has taught me that on your own it’s difficult to accomplish much, but a group of people pulling in the same direction can be incredibly powerful. Whether in fundraising for cancer research, or in sharing our personal experiences, our best chance of getting through this is together”.
