Founded by tech entrepreneur Stephen Henesy in 2014, Helpthemove is an online platform for Letting Agents, Housing Associations and Developers to manage utilities for their property portfolios. Our free software allows agents and property managers to centralise and automate utility notifications to the council, water and energy suppliers for each change of tenancy they oversee.
The service also introduces new revenue streams for agents via energy switching and tenant services. Operating from a central location in Manchester City Centre, Helpthemove now employs 55 full-time team members. Throughout our ten years of operation, our core values of remaining focused, entrepreneurial and agile have allowed us to navigate and thrive through challenging market conditions: focused.

Helpthemove works alongside OVO Energy in a key strategic partnership stretching back to 2019. OVO are one of the largest energy suppliers in the UK, supplying 4.4million homes. With a dedicated Helpthemove team at OVO, our partnership ensures that clients not only mutually benefit from our commission-based model, but they also receive best-in-class service.
We currently serve 1000+ clients across the UK, made up of letting agents, social housing organisations and build to rent developers and representing over 600,000 managed properties. Within this, we work with some of the UK’s largest lettings brands, including Propoly, Canopy, Belvoir and Dandara Living.
Helpthemove is an award-winning company, and within the past 12 months, has been recognised on both the Northern Tech Awards Top 100 List and PropTech Top 50 List. Future-Focused and Innovation-Driven
As well as the core Helpthemove platform, we are constantly looking into new and innovative solutions for our clients and the wider property market. Helpthemove’s team are currently developing several new industry-leading software solutions. The most advanced of these is Viewport – an online tool designed to empower businesses in the built environment with a comprehensive data analytics platform to measure, manage, report, and act on their environmental impact.
As well as this, we are also developing Upfolio, an asset management platform that helps estate agents maximise the value and performance of their landlords’ investment properties.
