Plamena’s WhatsApp Support Group 31 Mar 2020

Sometimes it’s the simple things that really do make a big difference.

Plamena Zahova Marketing Executive from Veco by Eurolink has done just that.  While on lockdown and working from home Plamena and her partner have decided to do their bit for neighbours in their block of flats.  Their neighbours include the elderly and vulnerable and Plamena has set up a What’s App Group for their neighbouring flats.

The aim of this is not only to bring these people together at this difficult time but to provide support and help for any of them who need medication or shopping collected and delivered or just to have a chat to stay in touch during what can be very lonely times leaving many of these people feeling more isolated and lonely than ever.

Plamena and her partner have been on hand to check-in, chat, create shopping lists and collect medication for her neighbours.  As a result, these neighbours are feeling safer and happier in the knowledge that they have friends and neighbours looking out for them.

At this time please give a thought to that elderly neighbour who you may not have spoken to for a while, pop a note or one of our contact postcards through their door to reach out, this simple act of kindness will mean more than you know and help someone feeling isolated know that there is someone looking out for them.  Support your neighbours where you can and feel more united.

There are lots of other ways you can help, there are now many local community volunteering schemes set up to help local vulnerable residents vis Facebook or next-door sites.
