Rupert’s Hub & Spoke in Crediton 7 May 2020

Retailers come together to support self isolating

Rupert Geering of Carter Geering estate agents is supporting the community in Crediton, Devon. Rupert and local member suppliers have set up a Hub & Spoke model to get urgent deliveries to the homes of those self isolating.

Hub & Spoke Model

Rupert set up the Hub model together with the Chamber of Commerce, local suppliers and enthusiastic volunteers.  The Hub is located at 18 High Street (formerly Kathea Boutique).

The scheme operates very simply, the person in need or a neighbour on behalf of someone, telephones their local supplier with which they wish to make an order, the supplier delivers the order to the Hub and then the enthusiastic volunteers will deliver the order to the correct address.

1,000 hits in 24 hours

The website https://shopcrediton.co.uk set up by Danu design had 1,000 hits in the first 24 hours!

The Hub is staffed by amazing volunteers, who are helping people in isolation, vulnerable groups  and key workers in Crediton and the surrounding villages during this challenging  time due to the coronavirus.  Covid-19 guidelines are being adhered to for deliveries, keeping everyone safe at a distance.

Businesses and Volunteers want to help

The community are pulling together, not panicking but being sensible.  The businesses and volunteers want to help and the fact that it is already a success shows what a great community they have there.
