The MND Association focus on improving access to care

Team Dawsons are aiming to raise awarenesses and fundraise for Motor Neurone Disease as they climb up Snowdon in September 2023.

Motor Neurone Disease is an uncommon condition that affects adults of all ages. It’s caused by a problem with cells in the brain and nerves called motor neurones. These cells gradually stop working over time.

The MND Association focus on improving access to care, research and campaigning for those people living with or affected by MND in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

Naomi comments “We chose to fundraise for MNDA as one of the staff in our Snowdon team had seen a member of his family affected by MND, so this climb is in loving memory of his Grandfather, he has also written this heartfelt poem –

In loving memory of a Grandfather

My Grandfather…

A man who was the stereotypical ‘tough guy’,

A man who served his country,

A man who feared nobody,

A man who feared nothing,

A man who would give all the care his body would allow,

A man who would encourage me to keep fit and keep active,

A man who enjoyed a glass of whiskey at the end of the day,

A man who would never give up…

Motor Neurone Disease…

A disease which weakens the muscles, cause them to stiffen and waste,

A disease which affects how you walk,

A disease which affects how you talk,

A disease which affects how you eat and drink
